      Description: One of the premier Cuban Son bands, Conjunto Chappottín blends together brass, percussion, guitar, piano, and vocals to transport you to Havana and the origins of salsa and latin jazz. The band dates back to the 1940s and its founder, Arsenio Rodríguez, one the country's most renowned band leaders and a major influence on latin jazz and salsa for decades. With his Conjunto, he was the first to add reed and brass instruments to a latin band. When Arsenio left Cuba in 1950, he handed the musical direction over to his first trumpet player, Felix Chappottín. The band was renamed "Felix Chappottín y su Conjunto Todos Estrellas". Felix directed the band successfully until his death in 1983, after which the name was changed to "Conjunto Chappottín y Sus Estrellas". From 1983 until the 1990s, Felix's son, Angel Chappottín Valdes, carried on as musical director. Currently, the grandson of Felix Chappottín, Jesus Angel Chappottín Coto, directs the band with singer/percussionist, Miguelito Cuni, Jr.

      Description: Whole Foods Market Folsom presents their annual event “Whole Lotta Brews” benefiting the Folsom Cordova Community Partnership. This event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 18, 2014 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. will be held at Whole Foods Market in Folsom located at 270 Palladio Dr. “As part of our mission, we recognize our responsibility to be active participants in our local community. This is just our way of giving back” says Whole Foods Market Folsom Marketing Coordinator Ciara Varvas. Last year as a presenting sponsor, Whole Foods Market Folsom raised over $15, 000.00 to support the mission of the Folsom Cordova Community Partnership.
      “Whole Lotta Brews” is a key fundraiser for the vital work of the Folsom Cordova Community Partnership. They provide an array of programs targeted at reducing the risk of child abuse and neglect as well as impact generational cycles of poverty. "Each year the Folsom Cordova Community Partnership provides parent education and support, safe youth activities, employment services and safety-net services to over 5,000 children, youth and adults in our local community," says Executive Director, Robert Sanger. "We offer this wide range of services in one place to best serve the community through our Family Resource Center environment."
      "Whole Lotta Brews” is the premier beer tasting event in Folsom and will be an evening of beer and wine samplings from around the region along with gourmet food tastings from Whole Foods Market in-store vendors as well as local restaurants and caterers. The event features live music featuring the raw and sizzling sounds of The Old Screen Door. Their early influences are some of the greats: Tower of Power, Earth, Wind, & Fire, The Beatles, and RX Bandits. The event also features international Chef Taro of Mukuni’s Restaurant.
      You can partner with Whole Foods Market in supporting the Folsom Cordova Community Partnership and empowering children and families in our local community by purchasing tickets for “Whole Lotta Brews” and enjoy an evening of delightful beer, food, wine, and entertainment. Tickets are $30 per person in advance or $40 at the door. Event sponsorships are also available.
